The International 2016 Could Win A Webby

The Dota 2 tournament has been nominated for best in Technical Achievement

Valve's The International 2016 has been nominated for a Technical Achievement Webby for its outstanding execution. Of particular note is the implementation of Augmented Reality technology and interactive stage in this year's TI, amping up the production value and entertainment factor to new heights.

For those that do not know, The Webby Awards are like the Oscars for online content and digital achievements. The awards have been around since 1996 and are given by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

The Academy awards The Webby Award based on the input of over 2000 accredited members, and the Webby People's Voice Award is given to the nominees with the most votes from the website.

Far be it from us to encourage you to vote specifically for The International in this year's Webby Awards, but as an esports community there is some pride in having a Dota 2 event on the list. Our stake in The International's success is even quantifiable -- the impressive prize pool was crowdsourced almost entirely from us, the fans.

You can vote for whichever entry you want but we know you're going to be voting for TI (we know we're going to, too).
