The Dota 2 Asia Championships (DAC), presented by Perfect World, will have its second season after a somewhat long hiatus since the 2015 championships.

Invited teams are defending champions Evil Geniuses, TI6 winners Wings Gaming, recent Boston Major winners OG, and China Top 2016 and MarsTV Dota 2 League runners-up Newbee.

The remaining 8 slots will be decided by regional qualifiers, with 4 going to Asia qualifier winners, and then one slot each for Americas, SEA, EU, and CIS respectively.

The Chinese Qualifiers will be from January 13-15, while the schedules for the other regional qualifiers have yet to be officially announced.

The group stages will be from March 28-30. The championship leg will be from April 1-4, in Shanghai, China.

The DAC is a significant premier tournament for Asian Dota 2 teams. Dubbed "The International of the East", the DAC has slots weighted towards Eastern teams and will once again be held in Shanghai, China.

For PH fans, it also happens to be the birthplace of the original #Raveolution, when Rave's 2015 roster fought to 5th place after two triple tiebreakers out of the group stages. It could be cited as the tournament that sparked or reignited the careers of current heavyweights Jeyo, ryOyr, DJ (previously Chrissy), Cast, and ninjaboogie.

As a melting pot for Asian talent and a springboard for their careers, the upcoming Dota 2 Asia Championship will prove to be yet another historic international LAN.
