The Games and Amusement Boards (GAB) provided Skyville, the Philippines' representative to the New Blood Championships in Indonesia, their esports athletic licenses yesterday, October 18, 2017.
The Pampanga-based squad secured their LAN slot in Indonesia's Dota 2 tournament after outlasting 16 hopefuls in the New Blood Championships Philippine Qualifiers.
According to Skyville's team manager, Bryan Altes, it was their wish for GAB to regulate esports, "for me, the presence of the GAB is very helpful for this industry to play on its maximum potential. [GAB] was very accomodating. [They] extended extra help on processing passports [for] teams that needs to compete internationally."
As Altes enumerated, the GAB's mission and vision for the Philippine esports community include the expansion of people's knowledge regarding esports, widening of players' interests, and boosting of esports experience to all local gamers.
