Today, we're looking back at this past year of esports and the nostalgia is creeping in alongside an encroaching deadline for our end-of-year reports.
As such, we can't help but remember some of our hottest headlines from the year and how they fit into the story of 2017 as one of the most exciting years for esports so far.
For part 2 of this look back, we're going to be revisiting our most-read articles about tournaments.
The Manila Masters 2017
May 2017 was when the Philippines hosted its first-ever homegrown international premier esports tournament in the Manila Masters. Yes, we've also hosted other international tournaments like ESL One Manila and the Manila Major, and other premier events this year were homegrown as well, such as the Rev Major, but the Manila Masters was the first of both great achievements, and the biggest so far.
Dota 2's The International 2017
And then, of course, there was The International, the biggest esports tournament in history. That isn't to say that it was the only big tournament of this year but we're very much aware of our audience's Dota-leaning tendencies and it comes as no surprise that our coverage of the event is at the top of our list.
