Off of the largely successful Champions League in July of last year, Elit Events, in cooperation with ROG Net Cafe and SM City Davao will launch another tech and gaming event this month: GG Festival 2017.
The event will be held in the SM City Davao Annex from January 13-15, and will feature a slew of competitive gaming tournaments.
The games included are Dota 2, Heroes of the Storm, Vain Glory, Tekken Tag 2, Street Fighter V, Special Force 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Mortal Combat X, Kritika Online, and Zone 4.
On top of the tournaments, there will also be the Walk-in Cosplay PH Davao Qualifiers, a rig-modding and overclocking competition, and various tech-related talks and showcases. Guests include Boss Mac Suba, Jessie Palacios, Eric 'Eruption' Tai, and Alyzza Taylor.
Last year's Champions League, also by Elit Events.
It is a lot like the Esports and Gaming Summit but based specifically in Mindanao. This makes the event a godsend to southern techie communities who are likely to miss out on the conventions hosted in Metro Manila.
Prepare to rethink your assumptions as well if you think that the southern techie scene is small. The Champions League was able to gather daily foot traffic of 800-1000 attendees, mostly from Davao and General Santos.
With the Gensan DotA League of 2013 & 2014, the Regional Cyber Collegiate League 2014 & 2015, the ESports Festival 2015, Mindanao Cyber Expo, the Gensan Tech & Games Summit, and the Mindanao Techno Expo, the Mindanao scene is bustling with growing communities.
