After our recent article regarding the preview of the most awaited million dollar DotA 2 tournament (The International) in the world, Mineski.net is proud to announce that we got a chance to interview the "lone Filipino" player for TI2. For your excitement, we present to you Jio "Jeyo" Madayag of Complexity Gaming. Here's our full interview with Jeyo:
Jeyo during his tender years
Hi Jeyo, can you please give a quick introduction about yourself?
I'm Jio "Jeyo" Madayag, 19 years old. I've been part of the competitive gaming scene of DotA 1 and DotA 2 for almost two years now. And I'm the mid-laner of our team.
So your age is similar to some of our country's known players. Did you start to play DotA2 immediately after its release last year? What was your first hero.
I started playing last November, and if I recall correctly, the first hero I used was Mirana.
Favorite Hero and item?
My favorite hero would be Templar Assassin. While it's Phase Boots for the item.
Any Previous team/s before Complexity Gaming?
Was it hard for you to shift from DotA 1 to DotA 2?
No, not at all. It's easier to shift from Dota 1 to 2 because Dota 2 is easier. Once you start playing Dota 2 seriously, you won't be able to go back to Dota 1.
Complexity Gaming Team
How does it feel to be part of the TI2, and as the lone Fil-Canadian player to participate on it?
Being part of it is already an achievement for me. And being the only Filipino to be in TI 2 will be a lot of pressure. I know I'll be representing their style and the Filipino Flag.
Well said. And since the groupings are now out, what do you expect from the other teams that belong to your group?
Anything can happen really, but I know for a fact that we can beat any team in our group. I expect Navi, Darer, iG to be the strongest in our group.
Your sentiments are the same as those of the followers of TI2. Haha! What preparation did you and your teammates did before TI2?
We've been preparing for TI2 ever since we started to make our team... It's our main goal. The most notable preparation though was our bootcamp in Seattle for 2 weeks.
Jeyo (left-most) with his friends
Tournaments like TI2 sure has some sacrifices. Anyway, who is Jeyo when he is outside the gaming scene?
I usually go out to the clubs and party with my friends. However, I haven't been with my friends for a month now due to our preparations for TI2.
If given a chance to pariticapte in the Local DotA 2 tournaments here in the Philippines, are you willing to be part of it?
Yes, it won't be long until I get back to my homeland. I'd like a chance to go against Mineski.
That's great! Hope we can see you in one of the tournaments here in the country. Any message to your fellow pro-gamers here in the Philippines?
I hope everyone trains hard for DotA 2 so they can earn a spot in the next International!
Thanks for the interview Jeyo! Anyway, here in our country we have the "Pabati Portion" or the greeting portion. Are there any persons you would like to greet in particular?
Shoutout to all the Pinoys and to my team, compLexity. Thanks for the interview!
