Southern E-Sports League: Counter Strike 1.3 Recap

Wilson Astorga

Last May 18, Mineski Infinity Las Piñas held its first ever Counter Strike 1.3 Tournament, as an addition to The Southern E-Sports League.  A total of 24 teams coming from the North and South of the Metro, and even those that came from Laguna and Cavite, participated in the tournament to determine the lone team that is worthy of the title. After the 1st and 2nd group stage format in the tournament, only four teams emerged to be as the remaining teams that are worthy for the title; Team Wara (Known CrossFire team), Puyat Sports, Lasmadu, and Skyville SOS.

During the top 4 matches, Puyat Sports faced Wara, while Lasmadu and Skyville SOS faced each other in a race to 30, single elimination match. It was an intense battle during the semis as the 4 teams showed their sheer determination to be at the finals. Team Wara and Skyville SOS eventually fell against Puyat Sports and Lasmadu respectively for a spot at the finals.

The finals came, and was intense indeed! During its single elimination race to 30 format, Puyat Sports got the early advantage during the first set of the match and gain the upper-hand. But Lasmadu had other plans, they’ve gained their consciousness when they are in the Terrorist side during the 2nd round and got close with Puyat Sports’ score. It was a neck-to-neck race for both teams to reach 30, but Puyat Sports regained their composure and eventually defeated Lasmadu, and was proclaimed as the first ever champions of the Souther E-Sports League Counter Strike 1.3 tournament.
