Last Sunday, 22nd of April, summoners from all over Metro Manila gathered at Mineski Infinity Taft, battling it out in order to to determine which team would conquer GIGABYTE Mineski Pro-Gaming League 4-3 League of Legends.

From the 64 teams that participated, at the end of the day, it was Bida Gaming (BG) that stood above them all, going undefeated on their way to bagging not only the P20,000 cash prize reserved for the champs, but more importantly, the title of first GMPGL LoL champions.

Fans and players flocked Mineski Infinity Taft to see the first hand action of GMPGL - LOL

Bida Gaming Roster

  • Kurt 'Rebengga' Cristobal
  • Lance 'Kaigu' Hernandez
  • Elijah 'Alastair' Guerrero
  • Yuuki 'KisouTanaka
  • Neil 'Yvmi' San Juan
  • Bing 'Agari' Xin Kuo

Bida Gaming as well as the 15 other teams that that entered the Championship Playoffs all managed to top their respective groups, going 3-0, and showing early on who the contenders were. Things started to heat up as the single-elimination playoffs began, as all teams already had three wins under their belts. But BG, led by Kurt 'Rebengga' Cristobal, were the ones who reigned supreme, as they defeated teams such as Cristal (ro16), Light (ro8), Prime (semis), and Juz (finals) on their way to the title.

Because of their victory, BG managed to redeem themselves after their early exit in the LoL portion of MIOT Morayta. Aside from this, they also accomplished one of their goals in winning the GMPGL, even furthering their fans' claims that they could very well be the country's premier League of Legends squad.

But the PH LoL still is merely in its infancy, and this tournament is only the first of many more to come. Six more GMPGL LoL events are scheduled this year, with the next one on May 20. Expect the games to be even better next time around, as teams all over are bound to be practicing this early, in order to challenge BG gaming atop the LoL PH ladder.
