Team Ron took the crown as the first ever champions of the Gigabyte Mineski Pro-Gaming League Dragon Nest division last March 17.
Unlike DotA and SC2, the GMPGL Dragon Nest had the entire country on a single tournament. At the start of the tournament, the teams were divided according to their geological location; from Taft (Manila), Cebu and Cagayan de Oro. From the beginning, Team Ron waltz through the challenge as they started with a clean slate but was neck and neck with other teams such as ROG, PH Saga III, PH Saga II, Ouch!, Dre and Umbrage.EA whom also battled undefeated on their own brackets allowing them to move to the next level. Cebu’s Guerilla and Dawlipz v3 and CDO’s Royalist, Fantastic Four, Bangus and Chaos Destroyer also made it to the next round.
On the next level, Team Ron, Guerilla and Dre were still undefeated allowing them a safe spot on the championship playoffs together with team Bangus while the consolation bracket consisted of PH Saga III, Royalist, Fantastic Four and Ouch. PH Saga III conquered the consolation bracket while Team Ron proved to be the best warriors of them all as they claimed the championship and the P20,000 pesos cash prize while team Dre and Guerilla settled for 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. The 4th placer (Bangus) and teams on the consolation bracket did not go home empty handed as they also received cash prizes.
GMPGL Dragon Nest will have six more tournaments, the next being on April 21 for Las Pinas, Cebu and Dipolog.
